EPFO Removes Cheque Leaf Upload & Employer Approval for Bank KYC

Key Changes in the EPFO Circular (April 2025)

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has taken a major step to simplify online claim processing. The two major updates are:

  • No More Cheque Leaf/Passbook Upload: EPF members no longer need to upload an image of a canceled cheque or attested passbook if their bank account is validated by the concerned bank/NPCI.
  • Employer Approval for Bank KYC Removed: The process of bank account seeding with UAN will now be auto-approved upon verification from the bank/NPCI.

Impact on EPF Members

This initiative benefits employees by:

  • Faster claim settlements with reduced documentation.
  • Eliminating employer dependency for bank KYC updates.
  • Ensuring auto-approval of pending KYC requests.

Implementation & Next Steps

The circular is effective from April 2025. Employees should ensure that their bank account details are correctly validated to avoid delays in claim processing.
