MahaGST Password Reset Guide: Mandatory Update 2025

The Maharashtra Goods and Service Tax (MahaGST) Department now requires all dealers, including VAT and Professional Tax (PT) holders, to reset their passwords. This guide explains how to restore access and update lost contact details.

Warning: You must reset your password immediately to avoid filing delays.

Step 1: Verify Your Access

Case A: You have the Registered Mobile & Email

  1. Go to the MahaGST Reset Page
  2. Enter TIN:
    • VAT Dealers: Use suffix V.
    • PT Dealers: Use suffix P (Note: The portal may suggest ‘V’, but ‘P’ is required for PT enrollments).
  3. Enter PAN and click Verify.
  4. Enter the OTP sent to your registered contact details and set a new password.

Case B: You Lost the Registered Mobile/Email

If you cannot access the OTP, you must update your contact information first.

  1. Select “Update Email/Mobile?” on the portal.
  2. Enter your TIN and PAN.
  3. Input your New Email and New Mobile Number. Verify them via OTP.
  4. Upload the required documents:
    • Proof of ID (PAN/Aadhaar of Signatory).
    • Authorization Letter (on Letterhead).

Copy the following text onto your business letterhead to create the mandatory authorization document.

To, The Joint Commissioner of State Tax, Maharashtra Goods and Service Tax Department.Date: [Insert Date]Subject: Authorization to Update Email ID and Mobile Number for TIN: [Insert TIN]Dear Sir/Madam,We, [Business Name], holding TIN [Insert TIN], hereby authorize [Applicant Name], PAN [Applicant PAN], to update the contact details on the MahaGST Portal.
