Official MahaGST User Manual Released: Password Reset & Contact Update

The Maharashtra GST Department has released the official User Manual detailing the mandatory password reset process for all dealers. This document confirms the steps for both VAT and Professional Tax (PT) enrollment holders.

Summary of the User Manual

The manual outlines two critical workflows to regain access to the Dealer Portal. We have simplified them below.

Workflow 1: Standard Password Reset

(Use this if you have the registered mobile/email)

1. Navigate to the “Reset Password” link on the portal.
2. Enter your TIN.
   Critical Note for PT Dealers: The manual screenshots show a generic “Suffix V” instruction. For Professional Tax, you must use Suffix P (e.g., 27…P) or the system may reject your TIN.
3. Enter your PAN.
4. Verify the masked mobile number/email shown on screen.
5. Enter the OTP and set your new password.

Workflow 2: Update Mobile/Email

(Use this if you lost the registered SIM card or email access)

The manual confirms that you cannot reset your password without OTP access. You must first update your contact details by uploading:

• Authorization Letter: A signed request on your letterhead.
• ID Proof: PAN or Aadhaar of the authorized signatory.

Once these documents are uploaded and verified by the system, your new email/mobile will be updated, allowing you to perform the standard reset.
